It is said that remnants of approximately half a dozen shipwrecks can be found among the small islands out there. One can simply jump in at any random spot near the islands and begin searching.

A well-known wreck that we have discovered can be located by standing on Lill-Grauten (the island with the lighthouse) and swimming directly from the lighthouse towards the northern tip of Grauten (the adjacent island). There lies a fairly large section of a ship’s hull, measuring about 20 meters in length, made of rough timber. It rests at a depth of 7-8 meters in the channel between the islands. Additional wreckage can be observed on the seabed beneath the platform that descends to 16-17 meters, located precisely northwest of Lill-Grauten, and further up from there. Grauten is situated just south of Furillen Island. Boat transport is necessary to reach it. If one has access to an inflatable boat or a similar vessel that can be easily launched anywhere, the best approach is to head to the southernmost part of Furillen and set out from there. Otherwise, the nearest location for launching is St Olofsholm, which lies directly west of Grauten. The closest major harbor is Slite.

Important to note – Keep an eye on the reefs if you are departing from Furillen.
