Marie
Shipwreck 36x8m. The vessel was towed out to Tjurkö in 1969. In 1970, it sank due to storms and rot. The masts gradually came down, and by 1976, it was barely visible. The wreck is positioned with the bow on land and the stern submerged. The depth can reach up to 8 m at the stern. The engine remains in place within the wreck, albeit heavily rusted. Please be cautious of the numerous nails protruding from the wreck, as they may damage you or your belongings.
Norska Skutan
Shipwreck 36x8m. A similar wreck to Marie.
Incident timeline: In 1941, according to unverified reports, the “Norska skutan” sank after breaking free and drifting ashore. The wreck lies only 25 m from the shore, at a depth of approximately 12 m.
The wreck is located at Fernströmsbrygga, just 25 m from the shore. Norska skutan is quite impressive as a wreck due to the large, sturdy timber logs that remain, which are unfortunately among the few parts of the wreck still visible today. A sextant was actually discovered near the wreck a few years ago, suggesting that more items may be buried in the sediment. It rests 25 m from the shore at a depth of 12 m, and it can be quite dark down there even on the sunniest days. Be sure to bring a lamp or two.
General considerations: It is easy to locate once you arrive at Herrgårdsviken. However, remember that driving down to the harbor is prohibited due to cultural heritage regulations, and vehicle traffic is forbidden. It is acceptable to unload at the last house, after which vehicles must be returned to the parking areas up by the “main” road. Also, keep in mind that if the winds are blowing towards the bay, visibility may drop below 50 cm, making it pointless to enter the water.
