The error on the two marked shoals is present on both the regular nautical chart and for those navigating with GPS. Most often, those who run aground there are using a GPS, which happens annually. Mainly new boat owners or those who rarely visit the High Coast by boat. Locally, it is well known that the shoals are incorrectly marked on the charts. These should not only be corrected on the charts but also marked. There is a leading line on Hemsön to avoid one of the shoals, but it is old and becoming overgrown. However, the leading line is only used by those heading into the strait and not by those navigating in the river. Several who run aground do not intend to enter the strait.
